Deaf Education: Preschool - 5th Grade
August 2011 - Present
 
  • Educated students with hearing losses ranging from mild to profound with a variety of language preferences

  • Initiated cleaning and troubleshooting hearing aids, cochlear implants, and Assistive Listening Devices

  • Worked as a part of an IEP team to develop and implement IEPs that met individual student’s needs

  • Assessed IEP goals on a biweekly basis and implemented instructional changes based upon the data

  • Collaborated with colleagues in a professional learning community to make data driven decisions about instruction

  • Co-taught in classrooms from kindergarten to eighth grade

  • Coordinated a sign language lunch group and an afterschool sign club to help hearing students learn to communicate with their peers who are deaf and hard of hearing

  • Designed a classroom website with resources for students, parents, and teachers

  • In-serviced students, parents, and other team members about the impact of a child’s hearing loss

  • Delivered small group and individualized instruction focusing on areas of reading, writing, language, communication, auditory, self-advocacy, and other Expanded Common Core skills.
