About Me

I graduated from Michigan State University in 2010 with a bachelors degree in deaf education. Since graduation, I have been teaching deaf and hard of hearing students in pre-school through eighth grade at Clinton Community School District in Clinton, IA. Some of my students rely on English as their primary language and others primarily use American Sign Language. As a teacher, I modify my teaching to best fit each individual student's language needs.

In August, 2014 I graduated from Michigan State University again with a masters degree in Educational Technology. Currently, I use computers, tablets, smartboards, video cameras, eReaders, and almost anything else I can get my hands on to help enrich my teaching and further my students' learning.

In my life outside of school, one or my biggest passions is traveling. I have been to many different countries including Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Aruba, Canada, Mexico, and Jamaica, in addition to traveling to many states within the United States. Traveling has given me a different perspective on the world, and it has allowed me to learn about many different cultures.

In my free time I enjoy running. I have run many half marathons, and even a full marathon. I also enjoy swimming, reading, and spending time with family and friends! My family has gotten a little bigger over the past few years. I married my husband, Derek, who is a math coach at Clinton Middle School, in 2014, and now we have two beautiful children, ages 3 and 1. We are enjoying experiencing all of the milestones with our children and seeing how their personalities begin to shine as they are getting older!
