Instructor: Dr. Claudia Pagliaro
This class focused on bilingual instruction in deaf education. Throughout this course, I learned the importance of ensuring that students have a strong basis in American Sign Language, which will in turn help them to develop more proficient English reading and writing skills. We also analyzed the similarities and differences between the ways that deaf and hearing students approach mathematics. There was particular emphasis put on the way that story problems are taught to students who are deaf. Adapting Innovative Technologies to Education
Instructors: Jodi Spicer, Craig McMichael, and Alison Keller
This course explored the ways in which internet tools could be utilized to support independent student learning. In this class, I was encouraged to first set an educational goal and then ascertain which piece of online technology could best assist my students in meeting that goal. I evaluated internet based tools and their applications in the classroom. I also created a website that my students could utilize independently through an inquiry based approach to learn more about unknown vocabulary words as they came across them in real life. Additionally, I created lesson plans that utilized the Universal Design for Learning model.

Applying Educational Technology to Problems of Practice
Instructors: Jodi Spicer, Craig McMichael, and Alison Keller
CEP 812 addressed using technology to meet individual and school goals. It also looked at frequent challenges that occur in a k-12 educational setting, and methods of using technology to solve those problems. We then looked at ways to assess whether the technologies that we choose to use in schools are effectively meeting the needs of our students. In addition to looking at the effective use of technology in schools, this course also addressed leadership skills in the area of technology.

Learning in School and Other Settings
Instructors: Dr. Punya Mishra, Dr. Danah Henriksen, and William Cain
CEP 800 looked at how children learn and construct knowledge in a variety of settings. It explored the misconceptions that students come to the classroom with and the importance of uncovering and addressing these misconceptions before teaching students new content. We researched a variety of psycological learning theories and discussed how knoweldge is constructed. For my final project for this course, I collaborated with a group of teachers to interview a variety of individuals. This allowed us to better understand their knowledge and misconceptions about the color of water, and we presented our findings in the form of a website.

I then created a research proposal where I analzyed and critiqued research that I had found with regards to this particular subject. For my summative project in this course, I collaborated with a peer group of teachers to uncover and analze research on information literacy and technology skills. We then created a website where we examined the educational resources that we found with a critical eye.

Capstone in Educational Technology
Instructors: Dr. Matthew Koehler, Joshua Rosenberg, Spencer Greenhalgh, and Brittany Dillman
CEP 807 was a course in which I was able to higlight all of the work that I created over the course of my time in the Michigan State University Masters in Educational Technology (MAET) program. Throughout this course, I created a cumulative electronic portfolio to display my learning, educational philosophy, and coursework from the MAET program. I also collaborated with other students in my class to ensure that all students created the most effective professional teaching portfolio possible in order to showcase our individual talents and strenghts as both teachers and learners. This was the culminating course that brought together everything that we had learned throughout our time in the MAET program.
